A couple of shots from wedding I shot last week. Had a Tamron 35-150 rented out and it shot probably 98% of the wedding aside from getting creative with UWA compositions via the Sigma 14-24 (last shot). It really is a workhorse and it renders nicely to boot...I'd say GM caliber rendering. That said, the lens is massive and not a whole lot of fun to shoot with. I had it for a week, and aside from the wedding, didn't really feel the drive to pick it up and shoot with it....so it sort of failed the ownership test similarly to all the great 70-200s I've owned. Great lenses, but never use them unless I have to. Plus the lens gets the job done at 35F2, and 85 F2.5, but it will never have the look of a fast prime wide open.

If I try to build my wedding business back up post COVID (debating it), this will be in my bag for sure, but for personal shooting and travel, Sigma i primes are my preference, and for posed portraiture....I'd rather have Bigma, 85GM, and SAL 135 1.8 in my bag.

I saw this set when I was on Flickr this morning. Top shelf work as always.

For me the lens appeals for indoor sports, to be able to go from 35-150 would be huge, and add in crop mode on the a1 that makes it a 70-300 essentially. As it is, I swap lenses 2 or 3 times in a basketball game. It would be nice to not have to do that.

A weird thing about me: I happen to be a geography lover and geek. One unique geographic characteristic of my region is that it is the only place where a Georgia city (town) abuts an Alabama city (town) without the Chattahoochee River dividing the two cities. Oddly the river cuts West Point, Georgia in half with its main downtown sitting on the western bank of the river. Here is The Last House in Georgia looking back up the hill towards where my home lies a short walk away in Alabama.

α1 with 35 GM:

Up the hill on the same street lies this home in Lanett, Alabama:

Star Trails over Whitney

Under near full moon light, Mt. Whitney is draped in shadows, all of the textures showing off. I had not done a star trails shot in a while, so with fewer of them showing through due to the moon, I thought it would be cool do do a short sequence. It didn't hurt that this was from our camp site, so, chairs and the occasional beverage were on order.
