I got a refurbished 90D yesterday and I went out today and took 92 shots. I came home and tried to download the photos to my computer using the eos utility that I got with my 7D2 and it said it doesn't recognize the camera. Somehow I downloaded 2 photos with windows live and I could view them in my DPP. The rest are still on the camera but won't download. How do I get my old eos utility to recognize my camera. I tried downloading the new version of eos utilities but my computer says I need some kind of permission from somebody or something that I have no Idea what they are talking about. I'm lost.

You can remove the card from the camera, insert it into a card reader on your computer, and transfer the files to your hard drive.

...or bypass the EOS utility and use Windows File Manager. The 90D will appear under "This PC" and its' memory card will appear just below that. You can then copy or move the files from the camera's card to your PC.

I second this suggestion...you avoid any bottleneck created by the camera I/O, and can use the full rated transfer speed of the memory card (assuming you use a USB 3 card reader plugged into a USB 3 port on the computer).
I never have plugged in 7DII into the PC directly...always use memory card reader.

Perhaps you need to download an update for the EOS Utility, if using the version that came with your 7DII. From Canon description for v 3.14.30 of the EOS Utility...

You can also use Adobe Bridge. I believe this software is no cost from Adobe. Personally, I am not a fan of card readers. I would rather not remove the memory card from the camera unless I really have to.

We still have OP comment, "but my computer says I need some kind of permission from somebody or something that I have no Idea what they are talking about" to first overcome.

Your first reply nailed it. It's a general software installation problem in Windows. Canon isn't involved yet.

I wonder if he tried punching OK when he got the admin-permissions message. Mine works that way. I don't remember setting that up specifically, but I might have.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I ended up getting a card reader and got them downloaded. I couldn't use my old DPP to work on them. I downloaded the new DPP and I have been able to work on the. I took around 105 shots and so far I've only found 1 that looks good. Most are very soft focus. I'm using a Canon 500 f4 V1, the same as I use with my 7D2 and those are very sharp even with a 1.4 teleconverter. I've use spot focus, zone, aperture priority, shutter priority as fast as 1-4000th , 1-shot AI servo and they are very soft. I got this refurbished from Canon, my first refurbished camera. If I can't get it sorted out quickly I'll have to send it back. I'm scared to try the micro focus adjustment as I've never tried it before.

You should probably send the camera back and get another. But have you tried live-view autofocus?

Try MFA for the lenses; be sure to set it for 'per lens'. There is nothing at all to fear from the MFA process; it does not permanently modify *anything* and, worst comes to worst, you can simply disable it again. It's an unfortunate reality of the bodies from the MFA generation that they often need some level of MFA for lenses to perform their best; there very few, if any, of my lenses that didn't benefit from it notably on my 7DII.

That lens is one of the most sharpest lenses I've ever used. So yeah something is up with the body.

If you are reviewing your images by going into 100% view of the image, then yes, they might seem softer than the 7D2. The 90D has over 50% more total resolution than the 7D2, so you are basically getting closer to your images or "magnifying them" more on the 90D than the 7D2. Try viewing your images at 70% to compare sharpness to the 7D2 images at 100%. Or you can resize your 90D JPEG file to 5472 on the long end, then review at 100% to compare to your 7D2.

Also like others state, set up a static target some distance off, and do controlled tests, setting up your AFMA to make sure focus is set properly.
