Sunset above the clouds. I finally managed to kick my daughter off the window seat.
It's hard to avoid banding in the sky, though.

Two more...
I use a rubber lens hood against the window but it is too short and small to take care of all the glare.

I was out yesterday with a colleague doing some aerial surveying test flights with his drone.

Downtown Dubai at night. Handheld. I can see some shake but felt quite good about the sharpness considering the shutter speed. You can see the top of the Burj Khalifa getting out of focus near the top (it's 2200ish feet tall) Thdownsizing for this thread helps tremendously with improving sharpness.

What is everyone's thoughts on using an RX10iv (or even an RX10iii) for Formula 1? I have no idea where I will be when I go to the Miami event in May, or if I need a press pass to shoot in most places, but I'll be shooting a combo of candid and race action. The RX10 series seems like a nice solution to what will probably be a weekend of run and gun, with no real capacity to change lenses.

Otter (Sea Otter) in the Dubai Aquarium.
I shot this one through a glass barrier using a rubber sleeve to block out the light. The sleeve works well, it's just a bit clumsy for my liking.

I did some moderate editing, including adding vignette in Apple Photos.

Pandemonium at the Zoo!

We just went out of daylight savings and it was a stunning fall day, so there were hoards of families at the zoo, enjoying somewhat relaxed gathering rules.

The first enclosure one encounters is that of the Red Panda - usually it is a no-show, being somewhat reclusive and generally not keen on noise. On this occasion, however, it was in frisky mood and roared around, doing laps of its enclosure before exhausting itself and climbing into the branches of the tree for a bit of a rest. All this brought hoards of families and the place was very busy, adding to the already formidable challenges of overcoming the massive changes in light and many objects in the way.

I really like the one with the panda in the tree. It has the right amount of background blur and great subject isolation.

Thank you Mark and Bart (?). Yes, a bit of an effort. I was actually gauging the performance of the RX-10 against my Canon EOS R5 with its RF100-400 lens on board. Given the smaller sensor and older version of the eye tracking it did well! I wonder if Sony will release a RX-10 MkV soon - the one is getting old in the tooth, albeit still a formidable unit!

I haven't posted in awhile, so I'll give it a go Jpeg's out of the camera, no sharpening, a bit of cropping.

Parking garage light with associated cobwebs at a nearby hospital. Well...at least the light works.

Just wondering how many of you have a filter over your lens for protection and if so do you take it off sometimes to shoot. Any suggestions on brand names. I have a Tiffen uv filter and I think it's fine for near shots but distance shots maybe not. To me 600mm or other high magnification magnifies the impurities of any glass you shoot thru.
