LHeyden Senior Member More info | Mar 21, 2022 12:00 | #3470 Took the camera out yesterday to try the FW update. It worked great! (My pictures were crap, but that's on me). When viewing the pictures in camera, there is a red square on my focus point. That's new...and cool, but was this already a thing or part of the update? Laura Heyden

Mine was up to version 1.5.0 already, so I updated the firmware to 1.5.1 before updating to version 1.5.2. The camera seems to be working fine, although I didn't follow one of the steps of the installation instructions to set the camera to P mode. It was on Av, I believe.

You can find it in the blue menu (#3), last tab: “AF point disp.” Wild Birds of Europe: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=19371752

Such lovely light. Thanks Levina. I really was lucky the other morning. I was looking at this amazing light driving through the bush and thought, “Wow, all I need is a subject” and the next thing you know I came across a small pride of lions backlight in golden light. My 90D is great but it just can't get me to where I need to be with it being a crop. Luckily it seems the EF-RF adapter will allow me to keep my lenses for now. I just need to save up for a little while, I guess.... If it makes you feel any better, I could have probably had either one. Having said that, I wouldn't trade my R6 for an R5 scotch-even if somebody offered. I simply don't want to deal with 45 meg RAW files and two different card types. Would I like to have the top screen and the other video modes (like Tx, Pr and Ap)? Absolutely. but honestly those are the only features the R5 has that I wish I had. I miss them a lot from my R (which I still have), but I got over it. Other than that, I'll keep the change.

I've had the R and all my EF glass and a control ring adapter (now 2) since the R came out and have never longed for an RF replacement for anything, except maybe the 70-200 2.8 but it has nothing to do with image quality and everything to do with size.
