Lovely birds you guys have over there in Oz.
I’d certainly like to see a few of them cockatoos drop in on our patch.
But, are you happy having them devour your fruit?:-)

Not really Ray. If they'd eat one completely and move on not so, but they nibble one then move to another wrecking half the crop in the process

Pippan wrote in post #19358543 (external link)
Ray, they're seed-eaters.:-)Fruit bats on the other hand ...

They do like fruit though Pippan.
this one took off with this in its beak
Rather funny as there's a sheet of tin (roof iron) on the ground under the tree and someone knocked an apple off and it landed plonk onto the tin.
Sounded very loud. Scared the lot and they all departed pronto

Bar-breasted Honeyeater at her nest. The nest is a loose tangle of paperbark strips, small sticks and spiderweb hanging from a spindly branch over the water of Florence Creek in Litchfield National Park. It is about 10 feet from the bank and 6 feet above the water. Quite safe from most predators I'd imagine.

This juvenile Australian Yellow Oriole was very interested in whatever was inside that tree trunk, and kept coming back to it.

This is a lovely little bird. I've never heard of it (or obviously seen one before)

Great shot

Brown Thornbill
they are occasionally in a small flock but mainly I see individuals scouting for grubs etc in the trees and shrubbery

It surely is and not something we've seen here. The parents yes, but not little ones skipping about

this Grey Shrike-thrush is amazing.
I think it's the same one that taps (belts) on our window and sings its wondrous chorus to us.
Here it has been exploring my timber stack.
It had just flown up onto a power pole looked at me then flew right down and landed on the gate beside me and was only a foot (30cm) away staring at me.
Back to the pole then back to me, walked about on gate, scavenged a grub and took off to the timber to devour
Never experienced anything like it. Awesome

this is the window it loves to parade along. Taken from about 2 metres away
yesterday my wife needed the hose fitting and bird was doing its act. She quietly walked up and the bird went to other end of sill then back again after she had left.
