I've no idea OhLook but most I've seen are growing out the sides of trees or downed ones (logs on ground)

Another interesting one from Far North Queensland a couple of weeks ago... this is one of the cordyceps fungi (Gibellula sp) infecting a spider (Heteropoda lineata).
