Thank you. Bracket fungus is common, but the white goo on the cut surface is new to me. Maybe the fungus spreads and colonizes by means of it?

I've no idea OhLook but most I've seen are growing out the sides of trees or downed ones (logs on ground)

Another interesting one from Far North Queensland a couple of weeks ago... this is one of the cordyceps fungi (Gibellula sp) infecting a spider (Heteropoda lineata).
