It must have been injured as it made no attempt to escape. I'd bet you're right about it being injured. The waterfowl hunting season ended in early February and it's quite likely it was a leftover cripple from a gunner. LD, or Mike

Lame-Duck I have indeed had pine nuts ![]() More info | Apr 10, 2022 00:18 | #1780 Wow...these two are really great captures, realairlight! What a crack'in shot havelock! Fantastic! Bianchi wrote in post #19365100 ![]() I have seen them in Caribbean Waters, while on a cruise ship. They were flying into about 40MPH head wind. The minute they turned towards the back of the ship, there was no way for me to track them, just so fast. They follow the ship and dive into the water of the wake of the ship, to do a little fishing. After about an hour I had enough, but they kept following the ship. Amazing Pelagic Birds. Both of these are very nice captures, Joe! Gary Sommer wrote in post #19365205 ![]() I very much like this particular shot in your series...because of the eye contact with the eagle. obviously the wigeon did not go to waste, even if it was wounded by a hunter. shooz wrote in post #19365234 ![]() ![]() Bit of a long shot, but it was interesting to watch this male Northern Harrier, diving on the Snowy Owl. Very cool shot, Dave! I find it interesting that a harrier would horas a snowy owl. I can't ever remember seeing a harrier horas a hawk or an owl before. Guess I need to get out more. After he had enough of being dive bombed he took off and flew towards me- I even managed to capture one of the offending crows in the first shot Amazing captures of a gorgeous owl! Love these pics!
