Pretty neat photo!

Thank you. There usually isn't much time to grab the image on another plane.

Nicely done, Jack. What I particularly like is it's not the usual aviation photo.

Where was it taken? Looks like northern Arizona... specifically the Vermilion cliffs in the background.

Thanks much for your kind words! It is northern AZ, but I don't know about the cliffs. The image is geotagged. If you click on the flickr link, you'll see a map under the image that shows where I was located taking the image. You can click on the map for more detail.

I flew a formation flight with the Hurricane and Harvard yesterday. Unfortunately I was too busy concentrating to take pictures too but I did get some pictures as the Hurricanes departed back to Duxford.

Looking at that contraption, I wonder how many manhours of servicing for every hour in the air.
I ask because I used to be a helicopter maintenance guy in the army 68-71.

I don't know about manhours, but found this on the web concerning cost to fly per hour. https://www.everycrsreport.com …L31384.html#_Toc322679532 (external link)

Flying Hour Cost Reduction

"Were finding better ways to fly it–-more cost effective ways," Robling said. The flight time cost has been shaved down from $12,000 per hour to $9,000 and lower in some cases, he said.

That is just flight time, not including the cost of maintenance and time change parts and personnel. Cost of ownership in 2013 was $83,000 per flight hour.
Ouch.

The Navy came out to play in my backyard, so I figured why not go out and play with the camera?
