Terrific shot, Mark! Very nicely captured. What kind of bird is this?
Thank you Mike. I believe it's a Double Crested Cormorant.

Lame-Duck I have indeed had pine nuts ![]() More info | steveb108 wrote in post #19367415 ![]() Beautiful rendition of this mouth full of a bird, Mike! What an interesting and striking family of birds. Thank you Steve for your kind and thoughtful compliment. They are truly an interesting family of birds. I saw my first one on a college ornithology field trip. Our professor pointed it out to our small group, and he was quite excited about it. I should have payed closer attention to what he told us about this seldom seen bird. Fifty plus years went by before I saw another one. This time around I was really jazzed when I finally saw one again. Fortunately I had my camera. RW123 wrote in post #19367416 ![]() Great shot Mike--I really like the composition and the framing of the Phainopepia is perfect. Many thanks, Rich. I appreciate your encouraging compliment. This little fellow must be a pet who has escaped. I spotted him in a hedge and tried for ages to persuade him on to my finger so I could rescue him. He was having none of it and eventually flew off. Sad because I don't think he will survive for long. Image hosted by forum (1154145) © Terrycanon [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff.
