300mm f2.8 L plus 2x TC= 600mm f5.6, my go-to rig......

Thank you for the explanation, Ed. I use a 2X TC with my series 1 Canon 500 f/4.5. I've just never been overly thrilled with the 2X TC. The image quality is not quite as good as I've seen you and many others here get.

Love the composition and complementary background color. Makes me feel I'm there. Very nice.

All birds photographed in the wild.

Beautiful shot of my nemesis warbler ! :-)

Thanks, Dave! I know what you mean...I don't get them every year. I got lucky and found a trail where a couple have been hanging before moving on. Good luck getting one!

Nice capture Mike of the Bluebird bringing happiness.:-)

Thank you very much, Paul. Well I know he brought happiness to me, especially when I first saw this image on my LCD screen. :-)

I think this is an excellent portrait, Mike. You've managed to show the range of the colors of the Western Bluebird and that blue throat shouts, "Not an Eastern Bluebird!"

And I think you made a very generous, kind comment, that is greatly appreciated, Steve. Many thanks.

Mike this is a lovely shot of a very pretty bird.
You get excited about our wrens but to have these about must be quite special.
The colours, detail and composition all make this very nice

Very nice to see you posting more photos and showing your talents in photography, not that we mind your valued comments and encouraging words :-)

Wow, what a wonderful compliment, Richard! I sincerely thank you for your thoughtfulness. It truly is uplifting.

This is a charming shot, Steve! It's always a bit humorous to see them with their head feathers raised. This green heron is so nicely separated from the background, and consequently appears very lifelike.

Cool shot of these two starlings, Gerd! These common birds are are quite pretty in my opinion, and this shot is an eye-catcher.

Exceptional capture of the downy woodpecker, Ed! Tack sharp.
