300mm f2.8 L plus 2x TC= 600mm f5.6, my go-to rig......

Thank you for the explanation, Ed. I use a 2X TC with my series 1 Canon 500 f/4.5. I've just never been overly thrilled with the 2X TC. The image quality is not quite as good as I've seen you and many others here get.

I think this is an excellent portrait, Mike. You've managed to show the range of the colors of the Western Bluebird and that blue throat shouts, "Not an Eastern Bluebird!"

Mike this is a lovely shot of a very pretty bird.
You get excited about our wrens but to have these about must be quite special.
The colours, detail and composition all make this very nice

This is a charming shot, Steve! It's always a bit humorous to see them with their head feathers raised. This green heron is so nicely separated from the background, and consequently appears very lifelike.
