I take the 24-104L when I travel. I've stopped carrying a bunch of extra stuff that I need to lug around. So far its done the job for me.

My thought would be a 18-135 IS USM Nano, plus maybe the 35 f/2 IS or 50mm f/1.8 STM, or if you need wider the 24mm f/2.8 STM. This is exactly what i took to Florida earlier this year and although not the lightest weight, i found this covered everything i needed, and i didnt miss my 'better' gear at all.

This combo, the 18-135 and 24mm STM has been a travel pack of mine several times now.

My usual travel kit in a Leica M Monochrom and a Leica 35mm Summilux FLE. Battery charger, extra batteries and small rocket blower.

Years ago I found the F/L that really matches the way I see. Once that happened I realized I didn't need all the F/Ls I only need the one that matches the way I see naturally. Makes the travel/street kit easy and there are no long decisions about what lenses to take. I tend to see in B&W to so the MM and 35 F/L really match the way I see and work.

I like my 24mm pancake for a walk around lens in city areas. I appreciate the versatility of the zoom when more of a outdoor/landscape opportunity.

I'll be on a month long trip to South Korea in a couple months, and I'm planning on only taking 16-35L on my 5D IV, the same set up like the last trip. A decade ago, the same trip had me taking my 24-70L, but now even this set up is heavy and burdensome, so the "brick" stays home. I'd take the 17-50 on 80D.

I like the 18-135 IS USM Nano. Great lens. If you can get it in take a wide angle prime (24mm 2.8) or the nifty fifty. Good sharp lens with little weight.

Canon 7D 2, Canon 6D 2. 111, Canon 24-105 4L IS, Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II, Canon 100-400 II, Canon 28-135, Canon 17-40 4L.

For full frame, I've had good luck with the Canon EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM. I combine it with my Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM and have 11-300mm covered. During the evening or at night, I use my Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM.

If “forced” to bring only two lenses while traveling it would have to be the……
Canon 16-35 f/4 L IS and the 70-200 f/4 L IS Mark II. f/4 for weight reduction.

The APS-C version of that has become my walkaround-in-the-city kit. 90D (or equiv) + 10-22mm + 18-135mm nano. All fits in a TT Retrospective 7 bag with room to spare. Gives me 16-216mm of effective focal length. Not much speed, though.

I wonder if the OP ever bought a kit, or went on that honeymoon, or even ever got married.

When I want to travel light with APS-C body

  • 11-20mm f/2.8 zoom
  • 28-75mm f/2.8 zoom

When I want to travel even lighter with APS-C body
  • 17-55mm f/2.8 zoom

IMAGE: https://hosting.photobucket.com/albums/i63/wiltonw/Equipment/.highres/IMG_3536%20-1a_zpsbtspooht.jpg?width=590&height=370&fit=bounds

When I want to travel especially light and ultra compact, into my pocket goes
  • Canon S110 P&S with 24-120mm equiv.
and the dSLR kit does not go

Remember, you don't want to make your bride resent you at a more rapid rate with your photography.
Sometimes the better part of valor is letting her grab a selfie of you two with her smartphone (even though photographically WA at arm's length is not the most flattering perspective. why do folks fail to see wwhat smartphone selfies do to their appearance?!)
