Normally I prefer to avoid mid day sun with its less interesting high contrast blast of light, but I was able to salvage something here with modest cloud cover. Three hours earlier would have made for a more interesting composition.

Bingo - you nailed it! My daughter took me on a tour their last week and what an incredible museum. I took about 300 pictures over 2 hours. It's the sort of place you need to visit at different times of the day to get a variety of lighting.
