Beautiful.
Those little ones look a bit scrawny. The front one particularly.
Are they? Or just appear to be?

I don't "think" they are, but I am no expert. They appear to be similar to most other new cubs of the year. They would have been born in hibernation in late winter and emerged about 1 - 1 1/2 months ago. But, there always seems to be the runt in every litter! I suspect that Mom will take care of them and keep them well fed. They are still in the nursing stage, as far as I know about Grizzlies.

Black bear - Ursus americanus

I was doing some macros when he came across - so close, that I didn't even have to change the lens. ;)

Just one more of Blondie and her cubs taken last week in GTNP. We were supposed to head to Yellowstone after that, but the weather forecast indicated otherwise. Thanks for looking.

Scott, nice photos of the bears. It's hard not to stare at the bear cubs, thanks for sharing.

Thanks. You know, it was kind of funny. I must have already had something like 700 shots of her. But, she and the cubs were out so much by Leek's Marina and Pilgrim Flats, that every time we would take a drive, there she was again. It finally got to the point that we would drive through and ask one of the rangers if it was Blondie again and if it was, we had to keep going. There is so much else to see in the park. But, those cubs were darn cute, I must admit.

Edit: It appears, from local (Jackson, WY) news reports, that a male grizzly killed the three cubs at the end of last week. Terribly sad news to hear, but, unfortunately, that is the life of a grizzly. Below is a link to the article that describes the loss. I'm just grateful that we were there to see them when we did. "Hey Mom, how do I get down?"

Taken a while back in Yellowstone near the Petrified Tree area. Just thought it was kind of a cute shot.

Katmai National Park, last September. Mom had four cubs at the time of these phots. The next day an adult male killed one of the cubs who had a penchant for wandering too far from Mom.
