That's a pretty one. We have those, but not so nicely landscaped and never bordered by sidewalk. A pedestrian would have to cross the driving area to get to them. The design seems meant to discourage walking there.

We have a lot of them here in this area. Traffic calming as there are schools in the area as well as people trying to take shortcuts around main roads. Most of them are landscaped inn some way. Different groups of folks from the neighbourhood share the work and responsibility to keep them up. It makes it nice to see, everyone looks different.
I think the sidewalk is to make it safer for the folks doing the upkeep.

Well, personalities differ. WWPW's call for creative interpretations gets me thinking about what the week's theme might include, what kinds of shots fit it, what shots might be surprising.

Sure. All kinds of ways to make a photo interesting given the topic. Point being if you think a photo fits, fire away.

Will toss in a couple that are a bit different - doing some macro snaps today, using focus bracketing.

Some urbanized nature: CU of a flower arrangement (now slightly past prime): probably grown in an urban greenhouse, cut, and composed to bring nature indoors.

Nature vs. Nurture:

I’ve been trying to nurture some “mixed wildflowers” in a few (urban) indoor planter trays. The seeds are slowly keeping their part of the bargain, but about a week ago these fellows started sprouting up everywhere, but only in one tray. Thinking it must have been in the potting soil I used in that one. Would welcome any other explanations. Anyone know what species?

You could test the potting soil by putting some in a clean container and keeping it the same degree of moistness as the ones with seeds. Of course, if you used the same soil in all trays, that test has been performed. If the "infested" tray had ever contained garden soil, it may have had a few spores to start with.

Western tiger swallowtail on buddleia this afternoon. I've also seen a monarch in the yard this week, actually two at once one time.

Currently I am in Portugal in a small town. Walking the roads there where a few abandoned buildings. One of which was completely overgrown with plants.

This is a Desert Dry Wash.. We haven't had water flow here for a long time. It doesn't seem to stop Nature.
Just across the street is an automobile dealership and a Del Taco. Turning your back on the city, this is Urban Nature.
Too bad I just missed capturing this trees when they were blooming. These are Smoke Trees and they have a tiny purple bloom that completely covers the trees. Yes it looks like smoke.
