If you had plans to go to Yellowstone this summer then you should change them. Entire north entrance damaged due to flooding and road damage. Right now all entrances are closed. Check the video link

Click this link to get to Yellowstone FB page. many videos are up. If you want to see yellowstone this summer it will likely be via south entrance Jackson WY and Grand Teton park

I have changed my plans and will go last 2 weeks September via Grand teton park.

the place is a real mess right now....https://www.facebook.com/YellowstoneNPS (external link)

I have seen this on the news as your link also shows. Roads washed away many places within a few miles of each other.

My wife and I were there in 2010 and loved it!

We had a bad flood a couple of years ago at our ranch. River completely changed its course and we had to rebuild the approaches to our bridge. I have a strong appreciation for what raging floodwaters can do. We lost almost 8 acres of hay meadow that is now just sandbar.

Thanks.

Just glad it didn't take the house. Only lost some equipment and a small out building. Mother nature is no joke. We had about 10 inches of rain in less than 12 hours and things got ugly.

And this used to be about 10 acres of pasture. Amazing force of water

Yes water is very powerful for sure. The bridge you lost. What are you NOT able to get to now? I sure hope you can still get to your home.

When we had a bridge construction company come out, the bridge itself was solid, it was just the approaches on each end that washed out after debris plugged things up so we were able to have the approaches rebuilt (for the low cost of $60k...) since the county, whose bridge it was, just vacated it rather than pay for any repairs. They pled poverty. Maybe I can do that for my property taxes...?

Was in Yellowstone in October of ‘21. Stayed at Hotel Terra in Jackson, near one of the the Grand Teton Park entrances, the Bumpy Entrance.
What a beautiful place. Shame to see this damage to the region.
Duckster. Best to you in the difficult times.

The scenes from the north side of Yellowstone remind me of the Sept 2013 flooding we had north and east of Denver after days of continuous rain (8-12 inches) in the mountains and foothills. All the major roads from the East to Estes Park/RMNP (hwy 7/hwy 36/hwy 34) suffered catastrophic flooding and bridge and road washouts. It took a few years to completely rebuild the roads, some homes and businesses were never rebuilt, and damage to property and the landscape is still visible today when you drive from Lyons or Fort Collins to Estes.

Good friends of mine are anticipating a need to change their September plans, too. . They've had their Yellowstone trip all scheduled and booked for over a year now, and were really looking forward to it. . But the way they're doing it is so expensive that they don't want to go if they are going to have to make any compromises and not be able to see all of the areas they had wanted to see.

Why spend thousands upon thousands if they're not going to get the full level of enjoyment they were expecting? . Darn shame. . They're older, and not sure how many years they have left ... and really want to be able to do Yellowstone to its very fullest (no limitations or closures or inconveniences) before they're too old and feeble to travel.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
