I think that's for the second batch as the first lot has already been pre-ordered.

Ah OK cool - I pre-ordered on 30th May so perhaps I will be in the first batch.

Love to LOL, but I have too much happening right now.

Unfortunately there are no nearby air shows in the immediate DC area until September, and then there are two big ones happening the same weekend (Joint Base Andrews and NAS Oceana). There's one near Pittsburgh (Jimmy Stewart Airport, Indiana PA) in a couple of weeks, and I've asked my son if he's interested in road-tripping to Dayton OH at the end of July for one at the Dayton International Airport.

FYI, the Military Aviation Museum is having one on October 1st & 2nd. Warbirds Over the Beach is not to be missed. I go every year and it's a 9 hour drive for me.

Need to charge the battery so I can start using it!
The worst part is that it's Monday and I won't get a chance to really use it (for anything other than my cats) until the weekend!

Aww man! So jelly!!

I ordered mine at 6am on launch day. I wanna do an unboxing video LOL

This will be my first camera with dual card slots. I'm not going to be a heavy 'burst' user, and at first will try using CRAW + JPEG.
Is there a particular set of storage cards that I should be looking at ? I'm thinking that a pair of UHS-II SDXC, 64GB, V60, Class10 cards
should work to start.

Does something like this from B&H work OK ? (I hope that posting the link is OK .... I'm obviously just looking for info)
LINK: https://www.bhphotovideo.com …_sf_m_t2_uhs_ii_sdxc.html (external link)

I'm sure they will work just fine. However, I would suggest a faster V90 card (reads 300mbs / writes 260mbs). I just bought a pair of Lexar 128Gb V90 UHS-II from B&H a couple of weeks ago as they were on sale. That is what I use in my 90D (128Gb) so I don't run out of capacity at the airshows.

Thanks for that tip. I’ll definitely look into it!

I've been using these https://www.bhphotovideo.com …64gb_uhs_ii_v60_sdxc.html (external link) in my R6 for stills and video. No problem whatsoever.

For anyone interested, there are some excellent bird and wildlife RAW images from the r7 available for download from this site: .

https://www.imaging-resource.com …-eos-r7/canon-eos-r7A.HTM (external link)

Jared Polin posted the worst examples possible from the r7, I found them flat and rather bad. Polin himself admits he's not a wildlife photographer. The imagingsource RAWs are far better examples of what the camera can actually do. I downloaded them and the images cleaned up very nicely. Keeping in mind that it's a 32 MPX camera, even the ISO 4000 was usable in the right conditions. This camera is definitely on my radar.

Just got off the phone with my dealer (name withheld on their request). It looks like body-only shipments are not in yet or may not be coming for a while. They have body+18-150mm lenses ready to ship now. I changed my order to cancel the body only and go with the kit. It's being shipped out today, and I should have it in hand tomorrow

Just an FYI for anyone that placed a body-only order. Maybe some places will be getting them, but it looks like those are going to be harder to find initially.

I've been using the same card for my R6 as well without issue. Debating whether to grab a 2 pack of the same card for the R7 or a 2 pack of the 64gb Lexar cards that B&H has on sale. (external link)

Polin did the same thing with the 90D. I downloaded his RAW files and they looked like the Sahara, even at lower ISO levels. It was one of the reasons I never got one (the other, main reason, being the struggling AF).

I love Jared Polin but he is most certainly no bird/wildlife photographer.

I have had the 90D since it came out and like it except for the AF, well also that you can't go high on the ISO.

My 7Dii and 5DIV blow it away in the AF dept.

That is why I want to rent the R7 for a week and really give it a workout, I can anticipate shooting 10,000 to 15,000 images, I will be doing spray and pray, shotgunning...

I'm not a fan, the hip dude or whatever-that-is vibe is just annoying to me, but I do look at all reviewers to try and get a balanced view. So I don't get why he posted such bad samples as representative of the camera. The r7 is not a high ISO camera, but I think it could be excellent in the right hands.

As a product photographer I can tell you that going above 100 ISO gave me cold chills when I first started shooting wildlife years ago, and I'm still extremely picky about noise and image iq. I was surprised at how minimally those r7 images needed to be processed to clean up nicely.

You have the 90D and as the R7 is thought to be the mirrorless successor of that camera, you should feel right at home: a 90D with a vastly superior AF. And a different button layout. That could be rather awkward for all of us though, especially those of us who will be using the R7 as a second camera.

All shops here still say “Expected delivery end of June”, and that includes Canon’s own shop. Grrr….
