You're closer but it isn't that one.

After your last comment I took another look at the pic and the map and saw that the land bridge in the photo must be at Lake Lugano. The headland in back, water on the left, sun angle, must be over on *this* hill, just about... oh look, there's the zigzag thing. Not more than a minute in all. I have ridden along the shoreline just under that spot, on the way into Italy. We had spent a fantastic week in Vezia which is a whole story of its own.

As much as I'd like to hand over to bibarnes and have my suspicions confirmed for his photo (which has been deleted) let's get out of Switzerland for the moment. I'm not sure if there are enough clues in this but I can add details if needed.

Photo taken facing due south.

We are back in the USA. The river actually forms a T here, continuing to the right as well as straight ahead.

I'm not sure how to take the tone of this response. Does wheat not grow in any of those states? Because it definitely grows in Colorado.

My apologies if there was any ambiguity on my part. By Four Corners, I meant Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico.

No tone. That was just a hint I was adding. It (combined with the terrain shown in the pic) should mostly answer the two questions and also provide a bit more info.

We like hints - but we also like answers and I don't think I remember seeing an answer to the question as to whether it was one of the four corner states yet. So, is it one of the four corner states?

I don't think there are mountains, and probably not that large a river, in the wheat growing parts of Colorado or AZ. So, no. Not a four corners state. And it is west of the Mississippi, although the mountain probably made that obvious.
