That's the best I could get with that filter. Still a lot of distortion. Hmmm.

I used the original (small) posted image and played around with the liquefy tool in Photoshop CS6. Not really a keeper fix, but it was useful practice with that tool.

Okay guys, I'm going to have to throw in the towel on the pano. I've tried everything that I have at my disposal and can't get anywhere close to what Peano did with liquify. I've rarely ever used liquify and am not very good with it. I guess I need to learn how to use it properly.

Anyway, here's the girl on the car. I chose to put her in a forest. DxO=>Nik CEFXP 4

I tried to use Liquify too but floundered (partly due to eyesight problems. Very small grey text on a black background floored me!

Time to handover. but first a word about the 9-image pano. The method which would really solve the barrel distortion is well and truly nailed in another forum. See how Hugin and control points can do it here. (external link)

My top choice for this challenge is for Mark's totally transformed flat & dram landscape into something bright and vibrant.

Just popping in to say that I enjoy following this thread. I'm not any kind of postprocess person, but I can appreciate what you all do, whether it is fixing a problem, going for an artistic effect or going nuts in the "Can you photoshop this for me?" department.

As you all know, that last category can be pretty hilarious! But transforming a daytime scene into a nighttime one and so forth, the way you all have shown, is just mind-boggling to me. Please keep it up.

Welcome to the thread Anton. Why not use your favorite processor and join us? We don't bite and it's all for fun anyway. We all learn from each other and the more the merrier.. You may decide to become a post processor. I personally enjoy editing photos more than taking them. I'm glad that you are enjoying the thread!

Before and After - The Weekly Editing Challenge
...now compiled into a single, easy to locate thread, that can be added to your subscribe/follow list!

Rules are simple:

  • Download the image file from the current week

  • Contestants will have 7 days to edit the image and post their edited version to the thread (as many entries as you like)

  • The owner of the original image will choose a winner

  • The winner will copy & paste this post and include a new downloadable image link

  • The new image must be unedited / SOOC (straight our of camera), full-resolution, and in a RAW format, ie. CR2, DNG, TIF, etc

  • (Dropbox works well for uploading and linking these large files)

The purpose of this game is to be creative and learn new editing techniques. You must give some insight into exactly how you went about editing the image. For example, increased shadows sliders, reduced highlights, local sharpening, white balance adjustment, specific filters used, tone curve adjustments, etc. Comments and/or questions regarding the edits are encouraged.

I am not good at portraits, and I can't remember what I did, but I know, I used a lot of color grading and basic touch up in camera raw and gradient map.

This one was just camera raw and textures.

This one was a challenge. Color grading in both. Wasn't sure what color I liked better.
