This question is like asking someone on their forum if their done buying camera gear. Not a chance, haha! I’d like to move to an end game espresso machine, like or turn a La Marzocco GS3 MP, a modded Linea Mini, or Synesso has a new ES1 coming out that looks nice. Effectively id like a plumb in espresso machine with commercial quality steam. The Breville Dual Boiler is one heck of a machine but the steam is weak and I just would like something more commercial build quality.

Id like to add a titan class conical to the grinder side too, like a Monolith MC4 would be nice.

haha yeah i thought i was done with camera stuff and then something else came out.

wow the GS3, I'm not familiar with it but I am with the linea mini. the mini is something I'm dreaming of having, its a nice looking machine Ive see others chose the gs3 as an upgrade but I'm not going to look at why and have to aim higher cost hahah. what's a modded mini?

A modded mini with either a needle valve or electronic paddle upgrade. Makes the mini act more like a Slayer or a Strada EP. It gives you more control over flow rate or pressure depending on the mod which can be helpful for boosting extractions on light roasts.

ooh ok. I'm not sure what the slayer and strada is but I'll look them up hehe. I just know the mini has the paddle that looks like you can control the extraction but it is just an on/off. The hard part for me with the mini is that it cost close to a leica M and Im having a hard time to chose between the two lol. I would like a black leica M, maybe the m11 because they now use sony sensor. Leica's iso performance is not good so the change is something to consider for me.

i should have got some cleaning tablets when Tony mentioned it. I need to backflush my machine. I thought since it's new I won't need to do it for a while. the channeling isnt good anymore.

how often do you guys descale your machine?

Haha a Gaggia and a Leica sound like a good combo.

I descale maybe twice a year but we have really hard water though I really need to just move to RO and a remineralization cartridge.
If you have soft water you may never need to descale.

But for back flushing, back flush with water everyday and then a tablet once every 2-4 weeks depending on use.

I actually forgot that I wanted a McIntosh preamp lol yikes!

thanks for the tips, I didnt think I had to backflush after use, ive only let the water run as to cleaning it. and i thought you had to use the tablet when you backflush. i guess I need to watch videos on maintenance and cleaning. had to order the solid basket, gaggia classic didnt come with one. tablets will be coming as well.

You don’t have to, but it’s a quick way to help flush some coffee oils out.

save yourself the hassle of maintenance and just buy instant coffee....

the heck? that's why you not a happy man :P

You can have good coffee with minimum fuss, using automatic espresso machines, with built in grinder and milk frother, check out the Jura model at Best Buy.

Tea > Coffee....

I ended up with the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige, we were looking at that, the Phillips 5400 and the Jura E8, the Jura was sort of ruled out because its really expensive and the Phillips 5400 was out of stock constantly and we couldnt find it anywhere. the Cadorna was a happy middle ground and it makes very, very good espresso
