The cars appear to drive on the left hand side of the road and the building on the left reminds me a just bit of the waterfront of Napier, New Zealand, which was also devastated by an earthquake in 1931, which led to the city being reconstructed in an Art Deco style.

So...... Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand?

Yes it is Napier. I was there more than 10 years ago on a cruise. I'll forget to ask to name the sculpture as Cpt Jack already did that more or less.
Napier has a lot of buildings in ArtDeco style. Very interesting. More than 5 years ago I put up another wain of the Tobacco Corporation building...

This should be easy. - Where is this cemetery? ie In what town / city?

The three "sticks" leave me wondering whether it is a headstone for a cricketer.

Over to you.

Oops! I think that I might have made an "oopsie". Cap'n Jack had already answered it. - The statue is "Pania of the Reef".

Should I delete my photo?

I for one will need a bit of a hint as to whether it's north, south, or something else. You say it's an easy one so it must be a well known location... just not for me!

It is on the North Island. Look at how far the island in the centre of the photo is off the mainland. There should be a clue in that.

That's what I'd been looking at, but it hadn't been getting me anywhere. Could be my estimation of distance is way off. Distances over water are tough to estimate. At what time of day was this photograph taken?

I took the photo at 1:25pm on 17 Feb 2005. Remember that is summer time in New Zealand when they observe daylight saving.

Edit: I have just checked and that island is approximately 20km off the mainland.

Edit 2: From where I was standing to the centre of the island is 27km (just under 17 miles).
