Steve these are really beautiful striking birds.

Thanks, and I agree with you, Richard. Their golden yellow and blue/gray wings make them unmistakable.

Immature Glaucous-winged Gull in Homer, AK. I'm not sure whether the darker feathers are new or just not as bleached. But it does have a distinctive look.

Thanks, Capn Jack! I agree that it is a very different pose, one that I did not realize in real time.

Hi Mike...Richard and I both thank you. :-D

Tom

Sorry Tom...I surely do screw up a lot. I'm going to blame it on old age.

Since I have been feeling better I have been trying to get back out and take some photographs. Well as luck would have it I saw this hawk sitting on this guard rail on the way out to my grandparent's house for a 4th of July party. Did a U-turn and had to stop in the middle of the road on a hill but I would say it was totally worth it. Only had a few seconds to capture a few photos before someone went past me and scared the hawk away. Thank God I already had a somewhat useable setting on my camera from my last photos with it. Would have been nice to have this at F8 I think but sometimes you get what you get.

Thank you, Mike! It's been a wonderful time watching mom and the 2 young. So many opportunities to observe their behaviors. Today, one of the two young ones caught a mouse, an indication, I think, that the young will soon depart.
