My PP skills are pretty rudimentary. I use ON1 Photo Raw, mainly for cropping and exposure/contrast/shadow adjustments. I don't do any noise processing or sharpening but I use the "Structure" slider (like Clarity in LR). I try not to go above 10 with that, but that's probably the noise and aggressive sharpening you're seeing.

I switched to ON1 a couple of years ago from LR because I didn't like the subscription model, but I'm thinking of switching back because I'm paying almost the same for ON1's updates, and there's a whole lot more educational material available for LR.

How did the images get to the low pixel resolution that you uploaded? That is where the artifacts happened, I think. The more pixels a camera/image has, the more damage you do by downsampling it to 1600 pixels or less wide with something like nearest neighbor. The sharper it is before you downsample, the more crazy-sharp it can be.

A few shots from early this morning. Not much activity overall, and shortly after the sun came up temps were edging close to 100 degrees so I didn't stick around all that long either!

Canon R7 - RAW BURST MODE - 1/2 Second Pre-shoot for Wildlife Photography

One thing about the burst with pre-shot it is easy to push the button and with the silent electronic shutter the only way you know you held the button down too far is the slider turns red. You need to practice in case you are looking to get a once in a lifetime shot, birds at a feeder are not like an Eagle on a branch, they come back quickly.

One thing I wish is I could put the settings on a custom button, say C3 as so far it seems like I have to set three things each time

RAW only
no OVF simulation
Burst Mode

I set it on "My Menu" screen 2 but it still need several clicks to get it. the C1, C2, and C3 are grayed out

Same person in his setup video says he has the shutter sound on the lowest setting for this sort of reason; see his first R7 video in the field.

He noted the lowest sound level is quiet enough only he can hear it, also demos in the video.

I have the impression that we also have fewer of them, but I'm not sure, thanks a lot

But unfortunately it has no effect in RAW burst mode, it remains silent no matter what the 'Volume -> Shutter Volume' is set to! Maybe a firmware update will fix this?

Sounds like something Canon should fix in the firmware to allow the shutter sounds in ES during raw burst mode, I feel.

I just received an email from my camera shop. They received R7's and one of them is mine!
I transferred the money a moment ago and the camera should be here probably day after tomorrow or the day after. Yay!
