This is a really nice self contained story - a warm vignette to consider; nicely done!

If you look at the first photo, you can see three men working, who are just standing in the second photo. They were probably on a break. They were reconnecting the lines from the old transformer station to the new one, our power went off at 8.12am, my computer started up again at 2.21pm.

I've been around construction works long enough to know this is common but not workers being slack. There's times they just have to stand back whilst something gets done then it's back to the grind.
The general public don't appreciate such things and think that's the norm and then the slanging starts :-P

At 2.21 pm the power was restored and my computer booted up, of course, the TV came on and the fridge started working, etc., but I didn't care about that at the moment, and they don't tell me when they came back on, but I can see it on the computer.. I had to solve work problems and without a computer and internet it was much more complicated. You can't imagine how long those 6 hours without power were -?.

I was just having fun with ya Lubos as I am sure you know. Glad your power did get restored, sorry it took so long when you needed it much earlier. It is difficult for everyone when the power goes out for just a few minutes, but 6 hours would be devastating.

i work in an industrial setting. my area manager doesnt understand that not everyone can work in the same physical space at the same time.

what could have been a 3 hour job sunday turned into about 6 hours because he insisted in everything be done at once. same issue raised its ugly head on tuesday. he wanted prep for X done before Z was started but miscommunications had Z get started first, lower priority than X but every time i tried to tell him if we had done X prep first, there is NO PHYSICALLY WAY Z could have gotten done. 3 times i tried telling him that but he kept wanting to argue over top of me. i had to walk away

-im just trying. sometimes i succeed

All the world's indeed a stage and we are merely players performers and portrayers.
