I think your bee is dead rather than sleeping. All the color is gone from its eyes, and there appears to be something under its torso that isn’t bee nor flower, but maybe a crab spider.

I wish you had gotten another shot from another angle. Hoot shot otherwise!

Good eye, Keith. I also noticed that object under the bee. I looked for any sign of a spider but couldn't see any. I went back this morning and found what I think is the same flower and bee, and it does look dead. Here are some pics.

On an outing yesterday I noticed these odd little stick bundles on leaves. I did some searching on the Web and believe they are a kind of bagworm which is a kind of moth. The larvae gather these sticks to hide in. I did not disturb them, but next time might investigate some more.

It's good to see these with the R7! They are very nice. I think an R7 is in my future, but I am going to wait a bit to see how folks feel about it in the next couple of months. Would love to hear your opinions for bug photography.
