I just spent a few days in the Lamington National Park, a little cool this time of year.:-)

Here we have a Lewin’s Honeyeater, taken near the Border Track entrance.

The birds are quite comfortable near people due to the feeding sessions at the O’Reilly’s Lodge, where there is an early morning bird walk for guests at the Lodge.

Cheers

Dennis

An Eastern Yellow Robin perched in a classical pose on the side of a sapling in the rainforest in the Lamington National Park and a Red-browed Finch, both quite small birds.

The combination of the Eye AF and low light capability of the R3 coupled with the 300mm F2.8L Mk II were just fantastic in the low light levels in the gloomy rainforest.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

This is a Log Runner in the gloom of the rainforest floor and I under exposed in my excitement upon finding the bird.

I have attached the processed and raw views to show how the Eye AF even worked under these conditions, where the eye was also partially obscured by forest floor material in the bird's beak.

Cheers

Dennis

After updating to the new 'new' firmware had to try the new highspeed setting - took me half an hour to stop laughing. . . . it is ridiculous!

For a must have capture i.e. kingfisher diving or a batter hitting a ball this would be truly awesome!

I dialled it back to 100 shots per second :p in a burst of 10 - basically sounds like a single shot and ready to go again straight away, nothing exciting just a chick chewing lunch - beak moving and slight tail move but jees

Only way I could show all 10 shots was like this - full screen scrolling though it's like a movie clip

one of the batch (tight crop but still nailed it)

One thing you really have to watch - I also captured a cormorant in flight, great wing spread / selection BUT there is no continuous focusing when it shoots so if the action is moving toward or away from you the last set of shots will not be pin sharp.

I'm not sure I will use it very much whilst racing but it is really going to be fun with wildlife for sure.

.DAVID.

R3 box that goes click and some tubes with glass in them on the front.

Absolutely awesome Rob! All your work is stunning, but these are next level, so creative and unique, top top work fella!

What is the glass receptacle you used, if you don't mind me asking? If I get well enough again, I would love to attempt to replicate with my Kenzi.

Thank you Tim, I appreciate it very much. I just used a 5 gallon aquarium from my local pet store. It was the smallest that would fit the camera setup in.

I played around with the 195 fps feature, It could be fun in some areas.
