Not the greatest picture of a Loon but I'm happy with it considering the time of day it was and the shutter speed used.

I knew the Loon was in the lake and had tried to get pictures of it before and on this particular evening it made an appearance.
It was almost like it was playing hide and seek with me.
It would come kind of close to me and then dive under water.
Never knew where it would surface.
It could cover a lot of area before surfacing.

Have gone back to the same lake a few times since hoping to get a better picture but I have yet to see it again.

To me, there is a blue tint to the Loon and I don't know why that is.
Maybe it's due to the light for the time of evening it was.
Or maybe it's due to me just not knowing what I was doing regarding camera settings.

Really good shot considering shutter speed.
Just about every lake / pond in my area has loons. Having them close when you are there ready with the camera is another story.

An ant on a pink flower. Crazy crop (0.45 mPx out of the 32.5). Not bad actually, considering.

Just returned from a kayak camping trip, was able to float in the middle of these guys while they were looking for food without disturbing them. pretty cool experience.

Not sure what kind of bird this little one is but it was very good at catching food for itself.
Large crops for both images so, don't look at them too closely!

Looks good to me! You can always desaturate the blue selectively

Thank you.

I didn't even think of desaturate the blue.
Just gave it a quick go and I can see a difference.
Nice tip.

No prob! Low light or all of one like color/groups of color can lead to Auto white balance inaccuracies... I always try those sliders, as you can selectively increase / decrease saturation, and you can also increase/decrease brightness of select colors (just beware there's limitations so zoom in to double check)

Found this nice site that calculates suggested exposure settings for shooting the moon...

I think I actually like the smaller aperture a bit better. Have to try going even smaller if the weather cooperates tonight.
