Thanks!
It's no coincidence that the more time spent the luckier we get!

cheers! :)

Yes, there is that saying that luck favours the prepared. And it's true.

It was before sunrise and still very dark, when suddenly this guy almost flew into me. I had to duck! :p
I took a short burst and am amazed that a few shots were actually in focus! Well, a few wingtips excluded. :-P

A very young and thus very blue Grey heron during blue hour. :p

I really felt for this guy. He was told by his parents to shove off, literally chased away. That's what they do. But from a human standpoint it's just so heartless.

EDIT: I replaced the heron with a better edit as it was way too dark. When I calibrated my new monitor I had forgotten to set the brightness correctly so it was way too bright and I ended up with way too dark images. Found that out when I looked at them on my iPad. I removed the second. Not worth re-editing.

The other way around is also possible, this spoonbill kept pestering(while making strange noises, I even made a recording) the parent(?) until it finally had enough and flew away.
I hope you like your new monitor, waiting for more processed photo's(if mine seem of, I just use my (uncallibrated) laptop screen).

Thanks very much, Finola. Yeah, they do that. Herons are solitary living birds, except during breeding season. And as soon as a young bird has fledged it needs to grow up fast. The parents will tolerate him being close still, but not too close and they're not to beg for food or they are met with hostility.

Here are two behavioural shots. The parent was clearly fed up with the youngster's behaviour and decided to set him straight. The youngster is protesting here, knowing what's coming, or maybe he just wants to be fed, either way, he's chased away.

These shots are mostly unedited. Just resized them and applied a tiny bit of sharpening.

That’s very interesting, Levina, thank you. I love the first shot; that juvenile has real attitude.
