Isn't it great when you go to a foreign food market. But say your an expert like me. You know what everything is and what price they should go for roughly. But they start speaking a different tung. And bam. Wow this is amazing. This food it smells better then. I'm surprised this area is so clean. Oh you think you know huh? But you don't know the local lingo. Everyone knows the local lingo.. And then the terrible knowledge you gain when something's been fished off Canada's coast and it costs more locally then in...

Thank you for asking.

I never asked but I suspect these are washed & sanitized little pebbles. It may assist in roasting them faster without expending extra fuel on the giant wok.

TBH I never eaten them as when I was a kid it looked too unusual to me. Will give it a try when I have a chance.
