I risked my life to take close-up photos of this killer hornet.

Just kidding, no risk at all. It's a fly. A Dronefly - Monoceromyia javana (external link)
Check out the Y shape antennae.

Great shot! Robber fly with a fly as prey. Lots of people use phone cameras to do macro, and some of the results are spectacular. Lol, I should try it some time.

Thank you, I did try Google to determine the killer but was unsure what it was.

Wow, that is a very convincing wasp mimic. But I can see the halteres, so definitely a fly. Cool antenna. Very interesting, great pics.

I'm going to confess that this was taken with my phone as I had no time to fetch camera.

Never seen anything like it before so had to capture it as best I could.

The shot came out pretty good. You know what they say... the best camera is the one you have!

Yes, I had this urge to help the butterfly free from the web, as I watch the spider coming down and then wrapping its prey.I decided not to interfere and document it. It was taken by SMC Pentac 135mm f2.5.

Ebony jewelwing damesfly late afternoon by a stream in Western Maryland. These damesflies need the sun to warm their wings so that they can fly. I am guessing that their black wings make good absorbers of sunlight.

Golden Ants Polyrhachis (external link)
Believe or not, Singapore has the highest ant diversity in the world.
There have 409 ants species living somewhere on this island.

Those are good shots of the Golden Ant. Are you going to look for the other 408 species?

This one was so far on the tree I couldn't get close at all, but posting it here since it's a bug thread.

Which species of dragonfly is this?
