Gobsmacked...

I went to shoot the full moon for a second night, loaded for bear with the Canon EOS 5DsR+Sigma 60-600+1.4 Canon MkIII extender and using the 1.6crop. Then there was the Canon EOS R5 with the RF100-500 lens. But the surprise of the night was the Sony RX-10 MkIV, shooting in JPGs to get the 2x boost to the 24-600 lens, thus providing an equivalent FoV of 1200mm - and hand-held to boot!!!

A couple of shots of the full (well, just past full) moon rising over Port Canaveral in Florida last night. trying to capture between stratified cloud layers. EOS R5 with a RF 100-500 lens. Horizontal is at 500mm, vert shot is at 200mm.

Eight months ago I ordered laser collimator from Starlight Instruments to collimate my 8" Ritchey-Chretien telescope. Despite some difficulties in production, Starlight Instruments kept their word and last week I got my collimator (thank you Starlight!). After four attempts to collimate my RC (quite tricky process) I pulled scope out and first noticeable object in the sky was the Moon. I took 120 X 0.5sec shots with ASI2600MM Pro camera through red filter. Stacked 70% of them with AutoStekkert3 and sharpened a little with RegiStaks6. Now, I can say: my RC shows more details.

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here and posted so here’s my most recent moon pic from 8/7/22. Also thought about trying to get a 1.4 extender just wondering about the sharpness and clarity?

In my humble opinion I think your sharpness and clarity is EXCELLENT!!

A 1.4 or a 2.0 would work wonders for you!!

Have you seen my moon shots with my Sigma 150-600C which I also use my Sigma 2.0 extender?
