Where do the Canon bodies roll over at? 10K?? I am currently at 2848 so I do not take NEAR as many pictures as others do.
My body was new Sept. 2019.
It will go to 9999 and then skip to 0001. There is no 0000! They cheat you out of one shot!

Obviously they did not go to a 5 digit number so they would have to stop at 9999 Charles

Charles, it won't be an issue for you if you are only at IMG_2848 and have never rolled over. Obviously they did not go to a 5 digit number so they would have to stop at 9999 There are industry standards for file naming and storage on memory cards that are agreed to by the manufacturers, and that prevents them (for now) to going to more digits. Forgive the newbie question, but why would I even care? Other than wear and tear on the mechanism, useful to know maybe if buying a used body, I'm not sure why it would matter.

I store my photos on a second hard drive inside my computer different from Drive C. My Digital pictures are stored in a folder called "Digital Pictures". Inside of folder Digital Pictures I have many more folders each named from my many different Cameras I have owned over the years. A folder for Olympus FE-190, Olympus C730, Canon FS30, Canon XSi, Canon 60D, Canon 90D, and many more. I do not think I will need to worry about file names doubling up since I do not take millions of pictures like some people do. Charles

Thank you so much for explaining what you do more clearly for me Archibald! I suspect you take one new picture on a new SD card, then take that filename and rename it to 90_0 or 90_1 or 90_ 2 correct? Charles
