I have had the 5DIV for about 2 years now, bought it used from POTN and really like the size and build quality. However I now use my R7 for wildlife relegating my 90D to a backup camera and really like the full screen AF and the ability to shoot quiet if I want to.

every so often, this week for example I start agonizing or lusting after an R6 or R5 to replace the 5DIV. All my EF glass works fine on my R7 so would work on the R6 or R5....

But then I look at how much do I really use my 5DIV? When I really look at the amount I actually use it I am finding I pull it out about once a month, mostly if I am going to do a landscape or people or low light. In the winter I will set it up in my window with my Sigma 150-600 on a gimbal and just leave it there to shoot birds on the feeders. Could I get away with just the R7, probably, but I do like having a full frame for no more reason than I like it.

Based on my limited use I will keep the 5DIV, would make more sense to sell the 90D. I may put that on Craigs List for a crazy price just to see if it would move.

"Allegedly" Canon will have another full frame offering sometime "soon" (so 6 months?) that's going to "allegedly" replace the "R" - so you might get something that splits the difference between the R6 and R5 or simply something compelling on the value side.

Were you using one of those lightning triggers or just good timing?

Been trying to decide on the 5DIV vs R6 and as I said I am leaning towards keeping the 5DIV. It was raining the other day and very dark so decided to shoot some birds out the window at ISO 16,000 to see how the 5DIV might hold up. Since I am mainly posting on flickr and POTN and my big prints are 8 1/2 x 11 for calendars the 5DIV seems to do ok. I may end up renting an R6 to see if it is cleaner at 16,000 to 32,000 but don't shoot that high very often anyway.
