In my defense this is my 1st time in decades to go birding with a telephoto zoom with 2x Extender.

I needed a light weight setup for domestic travel in the US.

If I were to do so again I'd go with a Canon EOS R7 + RF 800mm f/11 IS STM

Great shot of the pair of Roseate Spoonbills, Paolo! The R7 would be a good choice. I really like the Canon RF 100-500. It's a bit pricy, but light weight and one heck of a great lens.
