I know Photoshop has the ability to draw out an estimated focus distance. I say estimated as atmospheric distortion can impact focus.

Of course the lens knows the distance, and distance info is written to the EXIF, but in my experience the EXIF data is so inaccurate that it is unusable. That was a while ago, though. Maybe things have improved.

I just look at it as an estimate like how far is your home to the pharmacy.

1-2 miles when in reality it is 1.2 miles?

Accuracy should improve with the older bodies.

I like that it is there but I haven't looked at it since I saw it and made it a talking point to other photogs.
