Tukituki river mouth - usually a third to a quarter less than this in width.

Certainly some serious erosion there Rose.
And so much tree debris.
I like that coastal scene

Do we get a peak at Duffy with new hair do? Or is he too embarrassed to show himself :-P

Those gates look like they're locally made by a farmer?

Is it actually erosion or just a difference in tide heights since your last visit .. as well as coming in and out twice a day the tide rises and falls through each month called neaps and spring tides . And as we have just had full moons it will logically be spring tides ..

A lot depends on the tides at your last visit , can be very deceptive without a tide table

High spring tides are the reason people get cut off on the beach it comes in like a express train faster than you can run

you're right, the gate does look like an original. Back in the day when the farmer was a dab hand ....

It's a bit of both Jeff.

We have had big tidal sweep recently, but erosion is also a serious problem. I must have images taken from a similar aspect, will see if I can find one. Thought on Flickr, but not so .....

Slightly different aspect, but hoping it might show the changes from erosion over the last few years. Probably not with m 4/3rds gear.

We are lucky on the west coast as it tends to build up over time but the eastern side of the u.k from East Yorkshire down tends to suffer from bad erosion ,likewise the sandstone cliffs on the south coast

From August 2019, slightly different angle, but might show how much land has been swept away?

Interesting comparison Rose.
I like the composition of the photos with the bloke and jetty.
I gather that's now gone. Swept away, the jetty not the bloke :-)

Duffy looks smart. He'd be feeling the cold if you've any of our weather.

Finally "got out" as it were for the first time in so long. Just a drive, but fun and got to haul along a bit of gear.
Not the best weather (100F and smoky from wildfires), but the landscape of this area isn't the norm.

Thanks Richard - one of my favourite images from out there. Yes much of the rocks and white bating stand gone now.

Duffy has worn his jacket a couple of times this week, on colder days.

We've had warmer weather, but severe cold before that, and cooler again today.

Pied shag - I think. Sometimes difficult to identify them. M5 Mk3 with the wonderful 100 - 400.

Very nice photos Rose
The Shag is really nice. Composition, pose, excellent capture.

Your duck looks like a New Zealand shoveler Anas rhynchotis variegata. Very striking duck.

Interesting clouds. We've been having a lot of rainbows lately and long complete ones like yours.
Attractive landscape.
