You don't need a telescope

Got my sigma 2x and eagerly got a shot at Jupiter this morning at 545 (probably too early) I left the shutter speed a little low but I will learn from that

Even with the 2x I’d love to get closer but holy smokes is manually focusing these shots difficult

With a longer lens Jupiter and Saturn will become even more difficult. But yes it can be done. The distance to Jupiter is 378 million miles, Saturn is 824 million. That s almost a Billion Miles!! The distance changes daily as we spin around the universe. Google it!

This is one of my better shots of Saturn as the camera saw it SOOC (straight out of camera)

The second picture is cropped to show more detail.

Well I guess for being that far away I can be happy with being able to see the planet and not having detail haha

But that is wonderful! I mean there’s the gap in between the rings and the planet but I suppose that changes with how it is in relation to us and the rings moving
