As the UK members may know, the Chough, which is the Cornish 'national bird', went extinct in England in the 1970s. However, it made a return to Cornwall, about 20 years ago and has been going from strength to strength there ever since.

In Devon, where I am, it's a different story. There's been the occasional brief sighting on the north coast since 2018, but nothing significant.

A week or so ago, 3 of them turned up at Prawle on the county's southernmost point, and they've been in residence ever since.

The funny thing is they're believed to have come over the English Channel from Brittany, rather than Cornwall!

Anyhoo, here's a few snaps of them foraging. They're all crops as they're on private land, so I couldn't get as close as I'd have liked.

I picked up an OM-1 with the Oly 100-400 to play with. It will definitely take some getting used to, as it is very different from the A1 I normally use. I do like the 800mm equivalent reach though.
