Hummingbird season has started 2 months early here in Las Vegas due to the monsoon season we're having this year. Lots of rain has brought flies and the hummingbirds absolutely love them. I'm not sure if I'm going to photograph them this year. I hope to but I'm very busy with portraits and producing chronochromagraphs. Regardless, there is a female Anna's I commune with when I sit on my patio and have a smoke.

Here's a photo from a couple of years ago. Thanks for looking.

Shot with the Tamron adaptall 300mm f/5.6.

Thank you, it was luck. Couldn't have done it without the R7 and its AF system, my old 90D would never have caught this in focus

Thanks, the background is a drop off and with woods several feet away, so makes for a smooth OOF background.

I just got done watching a program from the Nat Geo channel called "America The Beautiful" - "Wild West" which was very interesting.

There was a segment about 6 minutes long about the Costa's Humming Bird that I really enjoyed and wanted to share what I saw.
Mama is very busy building her nest from dried grass and spider webs. When she has finished this then a male Humming bird comes along trying to court her. He has to display his very best looks to her of his flared out throated feathers which I never knew about. First he flies in front of her flying a little bit around her, but this does not excite her at all. Then he has to fly up one hundred feet then fly down at her at 60 MPH then show her his flared out throat feathers again, and while he is flying down his tail feathers also whistle! Now she is impressed!

The Humming Birds at birth only weigh 1/2 the weight of a dollar bill!! Holy Cow Really!! After being fed for 21 days of a protein shake of insects and nectar they are now 10 times what they weighed a birth and they are ready for their first flight!

This 1st picture is taken from my TV set, 2nd picture from the internet.

The tree stopped flowering the day I left. I would commonly see a hummingbird before or after work in this tree.

I caught this little miss in my garage. I dont know if it is the same one but this is the third time we have had one trapped in the garage. It is the first one I have been able to handle. She was just so worn out. I thought maybe she was dying because her eyes kept closing but right after I got the shot she just disappeared out of my hand quick as a wink.

Me too I was worried she would get stuck in there and the cat get her.
