Nice shot Pippan.

BTW Ive been noticing many missing equipment data since the new RF's have been released and I just noticed your R7 detail is also not showing up in your overall image detail . This missing detail has also been especially evident in the new canon RF Super telephotos like the RF 800 f5.6 RF600 f4 and RF 400 f2.8 and now it seems the RF7 is not supported even though its been out 3 or 4 months now

For those interested I put in a new thread in POTN 4 months ago asking for addition of the RF 600mm f4 and 400mmf2.8 lens and just recently RodAmi posted asking for the RF800mm f5.6 to also be added but nothings happened in those 4 months that I posted the first post asking for the RF600 and 400 to be added so I wonder if anyone is maintaining the register anymore????

IMO its an important and integral part of this Forum and Im sure over the years it has helped contribute to the success of the forum so would be a shame if this feature was no longer going to be supported? Perhaps Pippan when you have time add your R7 in a post to the thread thats going and maybe this will jog someone to update the register . Or maybe you know a better place the thread shouldbe ?...See here https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1525835

Was with Ozulrike at Fogg Dam today and came across the resident croc at pandanas waterhole looking for dinner. The Shelducks however were too smart for him and kept just enough distance between him and them so all he could do was drool and look on as they passed him by :)

Do you know if the bird was able to fly away before being caught by the jaws of this gator or croc whichever it is?

Thanks Clipper. It was taken from the driver's seat of my bus with keen birdos in the back looking for new species. While I was sitting up high, light was starting to get low so I want to go back for more water-level photos (although the presence of crocs makes this problematic) in better light.

There is actually already a sticky thread for gear database corrections and there have now been many requests for additions (including from me). I understand only Pekka can add them. I hope he's OK as I haven't seen any posts from him for some time.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

He's the fattest saltie I've ever seen. Must have been eating too many darters. I'm sure he could safely go for quite a few months without a feed.

This time last year at McMinns Lagoon I saw a bird I didn't recognise, but which turned out to be a White-browed Crake. I haven't seen one since, until this afternoon in almost the exact same place. They love hiding in the reeds so are really hard to get a shot of (or even to see). But I surprised this one (and myself!) and had about half a second to get a shot before it realised I was pointing this big ugly thing at it and flew off to another reed bed too far away.

Nice shot, Clipper. That croc will probably make a few handbags or shoes one of these days.:-)

Two nice shots there, Pippan - R7 + 400mm F2.8 seems to be a good combination to use - unless, that is, you can see yourself with the 500mm or 600mm version, then the world will become your oyster.:-)

Steady down Ray. I think that's National Park!
Anyway we don't get to choose "which crocodile" it's other way round . They get to chose which of us they like, unfortunately for some :-(

thanks Ray, it is a great combo but I’m going to have to join a gym and pump some iron for a while to hold it up for any length of time. I’m saving my biccies for the RF 500 f/4 whenever Canon decides to start making it. I reckon that would be the bee’s knees for the R7.

Well, Richard, I wouldn’t jump into their pond, but are they able to move fast if they are on land?-?

I’ve never actually seen the 400/f2.8, let alone held one. But I find the 100-400L is heavy enough for me. Just waiting to try my RF 100-500L when Canon supply enough bodies to meet UK demand. Seems someone has got something wrong somewhere. :-(

Im sure the clearing and perch where he lands was build by universal studios its that perfect a landing place for photographers:) However the shadows and lack of detail are the killer of many shots in that clearing but you overcame that issue perfectly by good PP. Cant say that for many of my shots there though :)

BTW I wouldnt be surprised if Parks NT closed the track where he is (for a couple of weeks ) to give the poor bird a rest from us all hahahah

Hahaha, think they are putting a handrail in to make it a saver area as there is a chance that people trip off the walkway into the water due to being distracted by the shining flycatchers :-P:-P

The ducks and egrets are too fast to get away for a croc most times the croc gets close . On the other hand the darters are at risk when they first get out of water as they are normally too heavy to fly and must wait until heathers dry a little. This presents opportunities for the crocs if the darter is spreading his wings to dry too close to the water.

Cheers

Although wild, this juvenile Rainbow Pitta (<1 year old) has grown up in a lush caravan park and appears to have no fear of humans. It happily hops around a couple of metres from onlookers.
