That's nearly winning the lottery, both of them in one photo, beautiful.

Thanks Lyn, I was a little disappointed that they did not have a juvenile with them to make a threesome, to complete the family.;-)a

Cheers

Here we have a White-browed Scrubwren and a Yellow-Throated Scrubwren who are in constant motion, hopping around on the floor of rain forest. They often follow the larger Logrunners who turn over the forest floor litter, looking for bugs and insects.

They are incredibly difficult to get a good shot of due to their incessant and erratic hopping around, often obscured by twigs and roots.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

Hi Levina

Good to see you are well enough to post - wishing you all the best.:-)

Apparently, the female is more drab, making her more difficult to be seen by predators in the forest when sitting on the nest, rearing the chicks.:-)

Meanwhile, the brightly coloured male can just flit around the forest canopy, strutting his stuff.;-)a

Cheers

Hi Dennis. Thank you so much for the kind words.

And dazzle the females with his looks! :-P

Strange, but it never occurred to me that females of certain bird species look drab for the reason you mention. It makes perfect sense, at least for species where the female sits on the nest. And especially when they nest on the ground, like pheasants e.g.

And you're not even on the Pacific!

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

A sign of global warming, if you ask me.-?

But a nice shot though, Clipper.

I have not been on here for a while. Just been going through all the pics and there are many great photos I have missed.
Recently I took some snaps of a Tawny Frogmouth on nest but there were so many oof branches and a blown out sky so spent a while in Photoshop to create this image. " Howling at the moon "

Darwin is in their normal range, nothing to do with global warming.

I prefer to be in the bush with the animals than a crowded city.

Really nice to see these together and such marked differences.
Lovely composition Dennis.
Looks like you had a great time with the birds there.

Thanks Richard, these birds visit the O'Reilly's Resort in greater numbers in winter as the berries and fruit become scarce in the rain forest.

O'Reilly's conducts an early morning bird walk for guests at the resort and they have a Licence to feed the birds and this makes them much more accessible to photograph.:-)

The bad news is that the guests then start feeding them bad food (bread, chips, etc.) from their balconies despite the plentiful signs asking them not to do so. As a result, other bird species have moved in, in larger numbers and have become a bit of a pest.

I still do not understand folks who feed wildlife even in plain sight of of large, legible signs pleading with them not to do so, printed in multiple languages.:-(

Cheers

Dennis
