I took a couple of shots of the Moon last night.

This one is taken with my Canon 90D, Sigma 150-600 at 600 and with my Sigma 2.0 Tele-Extender for 1200mm

I had been thinking for a few days for the next moon shot I do I would do something different. I remembered something I have seen other people do in the past but I had never thought of doing this. I have a second older 2.0 extender made by Kenko.

Using two tele-extenders at one time makes my setup now 2400mm!!!!

Tried higher ISO last night. The 800 seems to have come out pretty good.

1600 as well. The 3200 shows a lot of noise though. I'm looking for something online to learn the basics of post processing. Can anyone recommend something? Not sure if it would also help to invest in something like Lightroom instead of using Canons free DPP4. Though I am also wondering if it's not at least in part just because I am using a shorter lens. It means I have to crop more which seems to emphasize the noise. The 3200 shots look very comparable to the 200 and 800 shots until I crop them.

Full moon. 800 ISO came out best.

I have swapped over my 200-500 zoom for the 300 F4 AFS / 1.4 X MK2 TC, first pic of the moon with it - think it needs calibrating though.

I am no expert, but it looks very good to me!! The craters on the top right corner look crisp and sharp to my eyes.

Thank you kindly Charles, it was shot straight from my d7200 without calibrating it - I know all lens/body set ups need a bit of calibration for front/back focus with long lenses.

Great question.

I normally do manual focus via LiveView or tethered to a computer's display.

I haven't had much luck with manual focus using live view so far. Nit sure if it's a matter of practice or if you just have to have a knack, or maybe eye, for it. Would help if you could focus while magnifying the screen, but tough when you have to keep bouncing back and forth.
