I'm encroaching on Richard's territory here, with these Masked Lapwings taken along the Brisbane River today, outside the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

I love the "Ministry of Silly Walks" shot.

Cheers

Dennis

Dennis no need to be worried about that. No claim for anything in that area :-P
They are very nice and yes that gait on first one is quite hilarious.
Beautiful photos.

Had a great walk on Sunday at Fogg Dam, NT and was lucky the shining flycatchers were about. :-)

Black Breasted Buzzard on a nest building twig run- Lee Point . Another shot I can thank canons animal eye AF for. I had one chance at getting this in a clearing that gave 2 seconds max room before he disappeared behind branches and the eye tracking nailed the shot. I should be used to this by now but it still amazes me how little time the AF needs to nail the focus . Infact I was Back button focusing before I even had my eye into the viewfinder properly and it got it. And where it is indispensable is when shooting at narrow apertures like f4- f5.6 when the bird has a wide wing span and when using my dslr's they would usually get the af lock on the wing rather than the eye.

many thanks Clipper for your kind, encouraging words. :-)

This one was an unusual display from a male Superb Fairy Wren today
there was a female he was interacting with but no idea what this was about.
Not the first time I've seen that stance

Another ripper Richard

This time last year at McMinns Lagoon I saw a bird I didn't recognise, but which turned out to be a White-browed Crake. I haven't seen one since, until this afternoon in almost the exact same place. They love hiding in the reeds so are really hard to get a shot of (or even to see). But I surprised this one (and myself!) and had about half a second to get a shot before it realised I was pointing this big ugly thing at it and flew off to another reed bed too far away.

Although wild, this juvenile Rainbow Pitta (<1 year old) has grown up in a lush caravan park and appears to have no fear of humans. It happily hops around a couple of metres from onlookers.

Thanks Pippan - yes they indeed are.
I'd love to see an Azure though.

Forest Raven ~ Corvus tasmanicus
It says its endemic to Tasmania but I see these are in NSW and other mainland areas
