Cockatoos learned how to open garbage cans. People try to prevent them from doing so, cockatoos circumvent those measures.

Wow Pippan they are crackers. Almost makes me want to turn around and head north to Darwin :-)

Thanks Russell, you'd be most welcome. I've been hoping your wanderings would you lead you here so we could meet you and take you to the great birding spots.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Great shot Pippan. I always thought we only had one Darter here or is that another name for our Australasian Darter?

I think you're right but people up here often call them snake-necked darters. Easy to see why!

Judging by the 'paintwork' it's a well-used perch though.

Clearly the cockies are smarter than some humans. Go the cockies!

I shudder when they land on such, but they seem to navigate safely.
Magpies here do same in threes even

They're sure clued up.
Only problem is anything preventing those bins doing their contents exit job into the truck is counter productive

I like cockatoos, but they seem too smart to be kept as a pet unless you can give them a lot of attention. They are the bird equivalent of a monkey.

Next years the plan mate. Going to head up into the Cape for Golden Shoulders, Palms, Eclectus etc then work our way into the NT and maybe try for Broome in Sept for the shore birds arriving ????

Love the colors of these birds!!

Thanks Charles. It's amazing how the species can change even over short distances throughout the country

Did someone mention Cockatoo's............

Major Mitchell's, Mollis sub-species. Note the lack of yellow in the crest. From Ormiston Gorge outside Alice Springs
