Need some help with the ID. I'm in Onslow for two months visiting. These are blooming now, and seem to be everywhere.

a grevillea growing in a local park.
Don't know the species, but it's very attractive shrub

I agree, they are difficult.
This one was so photogenic, and very prolific flowering, but I remember spending quite a bit of time finding the right head to photograph

that's very pretty and delicate Pippan
I was surprised to read it's a mangrove
must be very nice to see those in profusion. Assume they grow in groups

Thanks Richard, they do grow in groups near freshwater streams and rivers. They are commonly called Freshwater Mangroves but I didn't use that name because they are not true mangroves, which grow in the saltwater intertidal zone of coastlines and inlets. They are also called Itchy Bush because of the irritant processional caterpillars they sometimes harbour.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

I've never see this flower before even though the plant that produces it grows commonly (and natively) along the edges of creeks and billabongs in the Top End, and almost always sports fruit. It's Pandanus aquaticus.

Interesting plant.
I see you can eat it after treating it, somehow.

I gather it hides itself in the foliage
