Thanks so much, Mike! My bad for not being clearer, but both are Cape Mays, The top one is an adult male and the lower one either an adult female or possibly 1st yr male. With so many of the warblers in the Fall looking bland or unlike their Spring version, the real challenge is not so much getting a photo as it is figuring out what the heck you've got. Part of the fun!

My apologies Steve. It was me who didn't pay close enough attention to what you explained. So many of the small birds are simply over my head these days. For me, they are frequently difficult to photograph and identify. I think I'm more successful with my waterfowl.

The ambush predator. Poor quality capture but I was amazed how stealthy this hawk was hiding deep in the Sumac bush waiting for prey.

Cool looking shot, Jose! The element of surprise is what makes these Cooper's hawks such successful hunters.

Super pretty shot Mike.

Thank you Jose. I see the Black Phoebe's every day, but the Say's Phoebe's are a pretty hard to come by.

Great capture!

Many thanks, sogs.

Very nice, Mike! The high key presentation suits the bird and sparse foliage to a tee.

Thank you kindly, Steve. I wasn't even thinking "high key" when I was going over this shot in photoshop. I was just try to get the image to look presentable. :-)

like the composition!

I'm glad you mentioned the composition, RAL. With this shot I couldn't decide whether to crop or show more of the setting. I finally decided that I liked the composition better when I included more of the birds surroundings.

Thanks LD. Maybe I should come up with a fried Lizard Legs recipe and submit it to Colonel Sanders. :-)
