I would have half stepped to the left.

;-)a I can't even remember taking it, so not sure why I didn't step to the left ?

Hi Paolo...

A beautiful photograph of a colorful bird. It's too bad that someone has hijacked your photograph on Facebook like that. I doubt if you have any recourse, but I would have hoped that the individual would at least remove it after you notified them.

Captured the colors well in that shot.

What I have discovered when photographing birds is that the excitement overwhelms.

It is something I had to relearn when I get a lifer or a succeeding opportunity to improve upon a previous image with the same species of bird.

It's a good image. I like it. :)

I agree with you, but my experience is that the bird flies away and I have to settle for the image I managed to capture

Thanks, Mike!

They do!
Thanks, Jack!

Thank you very much, Jose!

Regarding your Merlin, first, beautiful capture! Second, I'm curious if you see them year round where you are or whether this is a migrant. They are very cool raptors.

I've only seen them during the fall migration I think they live a bit further north of my location during the summer months. I've seen a number of them a number of times at Tommy Thompson Park in Toronto as well as Point Pelee in Southern Ontario. I was surprised the first time I saw one.

Always lucky when a bird is posing in front of a nice and unusual background like this chestnut-breasted mannikin :-)
Taken at Lee Point dam, Northern Territory, Australia close to sunset.

Nice capture!

Maybe because that would have put a blurred branch in front of your owl or at least close enough to the owl to spoil the framing provided by the branches farther out.

What a neat merlin capture, Jose! You were able to grab this shot without any branches in the way. Not an easy task. I have yet to get a nice photo of one.

This Philippine Trogon is such a gorgeous bird, Paolo. You photographed him very nicely!
