A couple photos taken while out with a few of my friends in the Sonoran Desert last Sunday (9/18/22):

A washed out sections of track of the old San Diego & Arizona Railway. This track used to be on a raised berm above the wash, but has been destroyed by past flash flooding.

From Coyote Wells a few former Idaho Northern & Pacific locomotive and a center-beam flat sit soaking in the rays.

In 1915 a tanker car exploded in Ardmore, OK, destroying several blocks and killing about 50 people. This engine, called the Mercy Train delivered medical personnel and supplies a few days later. It was restored and placed here several years ago. I’ve shared a photo of it in the past, but just recently learned the story behind it.

East side of the Ardmore, OK ATSF depot and a feller waiting for the Heartland Flyer. It was 20 minutes late when I gave up and left, don’t know how much longer he had to wait. A northbound freight had the road blocked the whole time.

It looks very minimalistic for lact of a better word. Perhaps the idea is that you and your passenger can pick it up and take it off the track before the train hits you :)

Advice, C&C welcome
