I'll have to switch that up next fall.

Oct 07, 2022 09:25 | #1811 Yeah it's totally worth hitting that section from Ouray to just above Durango; In fact - this year, for whatever reason, it seems like the south side was a bit better... could just be me/the lighting... there was also just a bit more snow last year so the red mt pass area was a more spectacular... Overall, I'm thinking: Starting south and working your way north is the way to go as you keep most of the sun at your back. However - for sunset - There's less prominence in some of the southern areas (south of silverton) where you're able to get alpineglow + fall leaf action (which I totally BOTCHED!!) but - that's why there's always multiple trips... patrick j wrote in post #19433124 Every fall I go down to the San Juans, but I always go right at Ridgway to the Dallas Divide instead of straight to Red Mountain Pass.
