What a lovely shot, Ken! It's a bit of a high key image that I find very appealing. A lot of mood in this one, for sure.

Thanks Mike.Got this one walking back to the hotel after breakfast.

I counted 100 starlings.

I never thought of counting. There were a lot more on both sides.

When they sit on the power lines above my truck it takes a beating and there are small seeds all over the driveway.

I don't believe I've ever seen a shot of a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Steve. At least not that I can remember. This is a very nice, sharp image!

Thanks very much, Mike!

Female Pink-necked green pigeon (Treron vernans) (external link) by Paolo Dolina (external link), on Flickr

Brightly-colored tree-dwelling pigeon. Adult male has a powder-pink neck, orange breast patch, gray-blue head, and yellow belly. Adult female is much plainer, is tea-green above and brighter yellow-green below. Both sexes have striking black-and-yellow wing feathers and yellow spotting on the undertail coverts. Adaptable, and can be found in mangroves, open coastal forests, parks, gardens, and plantation edges. Primarily a lowland species, but can on occasion be found in foothills. Social, often gathering in flocks; occasionally mixes with other green-pigeons. Unlike many other pigeons, not very vocal; occasionally gives strange, alien-sounding coos.
