Lovely capture of the Eastern Towhee, sogs! I think these towhees are quite attractive birds.

Thank you LD! They can be quite difficult to see at times because they favor rustling in the leaves.

I just got a 1.4x teleconverter version II and went out to the back of my property to try it out. No tripod, just handheld or up against a tree.
Anyhow, I would like a positive I.D. on this bird. I suspect what it is but I'll let the experts here decide. I know the second photo is not very sharp but these things were flitting around quickly and would not cooperate.

It's a yellow-rumped warbler.

Yes, and I think it is an immature one.

Ever wish you could be a bird for just one day? Here's a tern starting his dive at the main fishing pier at Ft. De Soto.

At the same location, a brown pelican preens its feathers.

Camera is newly acquired Canon R7. I'm still working on the settings.

Both are nice but the 2nd shot is the real beauty and the clear winner! (imo)

Thanks Mike, these are care of an RF 600mm F4L ISM USM that has now found its way into my collection. The 600mm with the RF x1.4 is ideal for these small. flighty birds.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

That's a great combination, Dennis! Plenty of horsepower for those tiny birds, for sure.

A Crested Pigeon taken at Oxley Creek Common. This bird is found widely throughout mainland Australia except for the far northern tropical areas.:-)

Only two Australian pigeon species possess an erect crest, the Crested Pigeon and the Spinifex Pigeon. The Crested Pigeon is the larger of the two species. They make a whistling sound with their wings when they take off.

Cheers

Dennis

Great shots of this handsome looking crested pigeon, Dennis! Excellent sharpness.

Both these shots are super, Kirk! I especially love the tern in the clouds. You guys with your R7's are really tempting me to get out and buy one.

Beautifully captured shot, Steve! It really is an eye grabber. She stands out so nicely from the colorful blurred background.

Thank you, Mike!

Lyco, not an expert but that's a Yellow-rumped Warbler.
